Our story
We make less than we could, on purpose.
Spade Social is a small street-led label out of Kolkata. We cut in runs of a couple of hundred, drop them when they are ready, and stop. No seasons, no leftovers.
The short version
Most clothes are made to be replaced. Ours are not.
The industry runs on volume. Make a lot, sell what you can, discount the rest, destroy what is left. We could not find a version of that worth being part of, so we built something smaller and louder.
Every Spade Social style is cut in a limited run — heavy cotton, selvedge denim, real lambswool. We price it once, at a number we can justify line by line, and hold it. No fake MRP, no permanent sale, no end-of-season fire sale.
When a drop sells out, that is it. Sometimes we run it again, usually we move on. That is the trade for making things properly and never sitting on dead stock.
What we commit to
Three things we will not quietly drop.
01
Drops, not seasons
Short runs, released when they are ready. No four-times-a-year calendar, no leftovers pushed at half price in October.
02
Built to take a beating
Heavier fabric, bar-tacked stress points, seams that survive the wash. Made for people who wear the same thing all week.
03
The list gets it first
Every drop goes to the mailing list before it hits the shop. Nothing is held back for anyone else.
How we got here
Seven drops, four decisions that mattered.
Drop 01
Forty samples, one shirt
Nine months and forty rejected samples to get a single chambray overshirt right. It is still in the range, barely changed.
Drop 03
The list came first
We put a drop out to the mailing list an hour early as an experiment. It sold through before the shop page went live. That is how we release now.
Drop 05
Heavier everything
We moved the whole jersey range to 240 gsm after too many tees lost their shape. Costs more, lasts years longer.
Drop 07
Six racks, twenty-four styles
We stopped growing the range on purpose. Fewer things, cut properly, re-run only when they earn it.
Start somewhere
The overshirt is where most people begin.
If you want one thing to judge us on, make it the Kora Chambray Overshirt. If it does not convince you, send it back within 15 days and we will refund it.
